Sand Harbor: Saturday was a dismal, overcast day. From the non-existant sunrise on. I got to Lake Tahoe, which is most famous for it’s deep sapphire blue water. The water was gray. The sky was gray. The air was bitter. The weather was drizzly. A half hour before sunset, I had given up on the day as being a complete bust. But a little clear spot had appeared near the western horizon. I had driven all the way to Sand Harbor, so I stuck it out. Sure enough, about 10 minutes before the sun went down, the sun came out, and the sky exploded into one of the greatest sunsets ever! I’m going to quote another email from my friend Stephen Oachs. A couple weeks ago, he posted a really nice photo from this same place. I wrote him and asked where this was. He wrote back this… “If you want to shoot Sand Harbor it’s about 15 minutes south of Kings Beach, which is on the North shore of the lake. You won’t get anything as good as my shot but if you wanna try, that’s where it’s located (ha!)” They say a picture’s worth a thousand words. But this picture only says four. It says… “Kiss my ass Stephen!” I’m Mike Jones, and I approve this message.

Harvest Skies: Pretty much my idea of heaven: out home in the middle of a field in the blazing sun with my 10-20mm, polariser and a mahooosive sky :)
