Switchback:

B/W 1st comment | Large on black | Prints of this photo | All available prints | My websiteSkylar and I had a great day yesterday hiking through Mitchell Canyon, in the Mt. Diablo State Park. We took a trail full of switchbacks up as high as we could until exhaustion and impending sunset forced us to turn around. I think we were probably very close to the summit but we didn’t start out early enough in the day to make it.
Even though we didn’t make it to the top, our timing was great because on the way down there was an increasingly glorious formation of clouds, and we were still high up enough to capture them. We stopped for a while to wait for more color to come into the sky and it was so peaceful and beautiful - we felt like we were the only people in the world!
If you ever have a chance to have a great kid to share photography with, I highly recommend it. It’s really special. <3

Abraham Lake at sunrise…
This was probably the most spectacular sunrise I’ve ever experienced as far as color intensity goes… This light stuck around for a good ten minutes too.
Believe it or not, there was very little post processing done. In fact, I had to De-saturate the colors a little bit because the raw file was too rich… The polarizer I used helped the ice bubbles stand out a bit, and the grad ND helped even out the exposure…

Искренне жалко тех несчастных, обделенных людей, которые напрочь лишились свойства сидеть в кино с открытым ртом и приходить в восхищение от безгранично красивой и доброй сказки, наверстывая то, чего они физически не могли пережить в своем детстве.

Landscape version of an older image. It’s funny how fast our processing changes in just a few months time.
